Memorial Day....a day of remembrance and a day to show gratitude, West Islip does Memorial Day right. Starting with the annual service at the West Islip Fire Department, a reading of the names of the departments departed service members, a dedication of wreaths and finally a heart felt benediction by the department chaplain. Then it is on to the town parade, lead by our own veterans and followed by countless sports teams, boy scouts, girl scouts, the High School marching band and finally the crown jewel....the West Islip Fire Department.
